How long will my laptop battery run?

The average run time for most laptops is 1.5 hours to 4 hours depending on the laptop model and what applications are being used. Laptops with larger screens tend to have a shorter battery run time. 

Using the CD/DVD player, streaming media and the screen brightness use up the most battery. Dimming your screen even a lit bit can give you noticeably more battery life. Most laptops have a power management control panel where power use can be reduced while on battery power, such as reducing the brightness of your LCD screen.

If your battery only lasts for a few minutes, it might be time for a new battery. If your computer doesn't turn on at all, even when plugged-in, you may need a new laptop power charger.
